The Sports Lottery Act had sports betting provisions within it that would allow the state to offer legal and regulated sports betting.

Prior to the Supreme Court striking down the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act (PASPA), lawmakers in West Virginia passed the West Virginia Sports Lottery Wagering Act in March 2018.
